Rodrigo Gomes
Founder & Father
I founded Volleyball Academy to bridge the gap between elite athletic systems and the nurturing environment every child deserves. As a father to a 5-year-old daughter and a 3-year-old son, I am personally invested in the quality of every drill we run. Listen to my vision on the latest episode of the Leave it Better podcast, where I discuss how we are transforming school enrichment through structured, scalable play.

From Pro Play to Youth Progressions
Having played at the collegiate and professional levels, I’ve experienced the highest standards of the sport. But when it comes to ages 5–13, elite drills don't matter if they aren't fun and age-appropriate. I’ve taken those high-level organizational standards and simplified them, ensuring that fundamental movement and teamwork are taught correctly, and safely, from day one.
Built for Scale and Reliability
Before founding the Academy, I managed program strategy and operational growth for large-scale youth sports organizations. That experience cemented my core belief: structured systems and consistent delivery are the true foundation of high-quality youth programming. Schools need programs that don't just look good on paper, but run flawlessly every single week.

Our standards
My background in collegiate coaching directly informs how we develop our Academy staff. I focus heavily on building reliable, repeatable systems that our school partners can trust implicitly. Every single coach in the Volleyball Academy network is 100% background-checked, trained in our specific curriculum implementation, and rigorously certified in safety and youth development best practices
