Maira Millonida

Howard County

Originally from Okinawa, Japan, Maira Millonida brings both a global perspective and a deep passion for volleyball to the Volleyball Academy coaching team. She fell in love with the sport at the age of 10 and developed her skills as a setter—a role that reflects her natural leadership, precision, and court awareness.

Now living in the U.S., Maira is committed to giving back through coaching, especially to young athletes. Her philosophy centers on using volleyball as a tool to help kids develop not only physical skills, but also confidence, resilience, and teamwork. She creates a supportive, structured environment where every player can thrive—whether they’re touching the ball for the first time or working on advanced technique.

Known for her calm demeanor, attention to detail, and belief in the power of encouragement, Maira’s coaching style resonates with players and parents alike. Her multicultural background and firsthand experience in youth sports give her a unique ability to connect with a diverse range of athletes.

Maira is excited to be part of the Volleyball Academy team, where she can combine her love for the sport with her dedication to youth development. Her goal is simple: help young players grow, believe in themselves, and have fun doing it.
