Monique Butler

Montgomery County, Howard County

Monique Butler began her volleyball journey as a junior at Western High School in Baltimore, Maryland, where her passion for the game first took root. She continued her playing career at McDaniel College and later with the UMBC Women’s Club team, further developing her competitive experience and love for the sport.

Monique began her coaching career in 1999 with the Baltimore Starlings, where she helped develop athletes for over a decade (1999–2013). Throughout the years, she has served in numerous impactful roles, including coaching at Western High School (2004–2013), St. Frances Academy (2002–2004; 2013–2015), Howard County Recreation & Parks (2014–2020), and Maryland Juniors (2017–present). She has coached athletes across every developmental stage, from 10U through 18s, bringing energy, structure, and mentorship to each level.

Since 2020, she has served as the Varsity Head Coach at Archbishop Spalding High School, continuing her commitment to developing strong, confident student-athletes both on and off the court.

In addition to her coaching career, Monique is currently pursuing her MBA/MA through Johns Hopkins University and MICA. She lives in Columbia with her three daughters and two cats. She is deeply passionate about coaching and is dedicated to giving back to the game that has given so much to her.
